 | Marietta police search for slaying suspect |
Marietta police are looking for Richard Wayne Smith in connection with last week’s robbery and stabbing that left a man dead inside a Franklin Road apartment.
Smith, 21, has been on the run since police say he brutally stabbed George Nelson inside Nelson’s home at Autumn View Apartments on Nov. 15, according to police spokesman Mark Bishop.
Nelson, 42, was stabbed several times in the face, head and neck with a knife and a fork. Police say the suspect struck Nelson with another object to his head and stomped on his body.

 | Ohio murder suspect nabbed in Kennesaw |
A fugitive wanted for an Ohio murder was arrested at a Kennesaw motel Thursday night, authorities said.
Cherokee County sheriff’s Sgt. Jay Baker said investigators with the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad arrested an unnamed suspect in Woodstock for selling Ecstasy, and that arrest led to a search of a hotel room on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw.
During the search, investigators seized 179 Ecstasy pills and arrested Reginald Griffin, 29, of Kennesaw, Baker said.

San Diego is a cool place if you've never been. There is plenty to do and even in November, the weather is really good; 80's and a lot of sunshine.
But during a recent visit there for a conference I noticed another side to the city. San Diego has some of the world's worst drivers-yes, even compared to us.
I was stationed in San Diego when I got out of the Navy a few years back - well, a lot of years - when the Rolling Stones were on only their fourth farewell tour and before Joan Rivers looked Asian.

 | 3 suspects surrender after standoff with Cobb SWAT |
The day after she filed paperwork to evict people living in a Marietta home she owns, Flore Anderson learned her rental property was the scene of crime.
A two-hour standoff ended without incident Wednesday afternoon when three suspects surrendered to Cobb County police and SWAT team officials.
Anderson said she has no idea who any of the three are. Last month, she found out her tenant — Triscilla McMickens — died Aug. 27 at age 41.

 | Austell man charged in toddler's death |
A 22-year-old Austell man has been charged with murder in the death of a toddler at a Cobb County apartment complex.
Orlando Dyer was arrested Thursday on aggravated battery and child cruelty charges after emergency medical personnel arrived at the Whisper Woods Apartment complex and found the 22-month-old girl not breathing and bleeding from the nose and mouth.
The girl was taken off life support and pronounced dead Friday at Egleston Hospital, said Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce. The charges were upgraded Monday to felony murder.

 | Suspect in biker's death arrested |
The driver of a pickup truck who police say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash early Friday is under arrest after turning himself in to Kennesaw Police.
Howard Rouen, 32, of Kennesaw, notified police on Sunday that he owned a truck matching the description he had heard in media reports of the crash.
Police say bicyclist John Wigren, 64, of Kennesaw was waiting to cross Cherokee Street at McCollum Parkway, near Wade Green Road, at 12:18 a.m. Friday when a red truck heading east on Cherokee hit the back of his bicycle. Wigren was taken to Kennestone Hospital, where he died.

 | Police ID walker killed on I-20 |
Cobb police have identified the pedestrian killed by a car Saturday night in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20.
Denise Mitchell, 44, of Austell was struck by a 1996 silver Ford Taurus driven by 27-year-old Justin Fincher of Monticello, around 10:20 p.m. near the Thornton Road exit, police spokesman Nathan McCreary said.
McCreary said police were alerted about a pedestrian wandering on the interstate. When they arrived, Mitchell had already been hit.

 | No suspects in slaying of Marietta man |
Police have no motive and no suspects in the Saturday killing of a 42-year-old Marietta man.
George Nelson died in his residence at Autumn View Apartments on 1030 Franklin Road, according to Marietta Police Department spokesman Mark Bishop.
A male acquaintance placed the 911 call at 10:07 p.m. Police are not releasing information on the manner of death, where Nelson worked or where his body was found inside the apartment, Bishop said.

 | Small child killed Monday morning on S. Cobb Drive |
A child younger than 5 was killed when a mother and her four children were hit by a vehicle while trying to cross a busy Cobb County road before dawn Monday, police said.
The mother and her three other children suffered injuries described by police as "superficial." They were taken to a local hospital, Smyrna police spokesman Michael Smith said.
Smith said the driver of the vehicle that struck the group stopped and called 911 to report the incident.
