 | Police ID walker killed on I-20 |
Cobb police have identified the pedestrian killed by a car Saturday night in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20.
Denise Mitchell, 44, of Austell was struck by a 1996 silver Ford Taurus driven by 27-year-old Justin Fincher of Monticello, around 10:20 p.m. near the Thornton Road exit, police spokesman Nathan McCreary said.
McCreary said police were alerted about a pedestrian wandering on the interstate. When they arrived, Mitchell had already been hit.

 | No suspects in slaying of Marietta man |
Police have no motive and no suspects in the Saturday killing of a 42-year-old Marietta man.
George Nelson died in his residence at Autumn View Apartments on 1030 Franklin Road, according to Marietta Police Department spokesman Mark Bishop.
A male acquaintance placed the 911 call at 10:07 p.m. Police are not releasing information on the manner of death, where Nelson worked or where his body was found inside the apartment, Bishop said.

 | Small child killed Monday morning on S. Cobb Drive |
A child younger than 5 was killed when a mother and her four children were hit by a vehicle while trying to cross a busy Cobb County road before dawn Monday, police said.
The mother and her three other children suffered injuries described by police as "superficial." They were taken to a local hospital, Smyrna police spokesman Michael Smith said.
Smith said the driver of the vehicle that struck the group stopped and called 911 to report the incident.

 | Pedestrian wandering I-20 is struck by car |
Investigators are seeking the identity of a woman who was struck and killed by a car this weekend while walking on I-20 near the Six Flags Over Georgia theme park in Cobb County.
Police were alerted around 10:20 p.m. Saturday that a pedestrian was wandering onto the interstate.
Officers responded within three minutes only to find the woman had been hit near the Thornton Road exit in Austell, said Cobb police spokesman Nathan McCreary.

 | 2nd arrest in fatal Cobb armed robbery |
Cobb County police have arrested a second person in the death of a 17-year-old who died from head injuries sustained during an armed robbery.
Karif Amir Davis was arrested Friday, police said Saturday. The other suspect, Laquintin Lebron Dunnigan, was arrested Tuesday.
According to police, Davis and Dunnigan robbed Ethan Cade Thurman, of Powder Springs, as he and two friends returned to their car at Fair Oaks Park on Nov. 2.

 | Car strikes pedestrian, hits empty Marietta schoolbus |
A vehicle struck and seriously injured a pedestrian at a Marietta interesection early Friday morning, then collided with a school bus on the way to its first pickup of the day, police and school said.
Reports from the scene indicated three injuries, with one person trapped for a time, Marietta police Officer Mark Bishop said.
The accident happened about 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Powder Springs and Booth roads.

 | Violent Home Invasions Connected? |
Acworth police are talking to police in Douglasville, trying to determine if a couple of violent home invasions may be related.
The first attack was on Halloween when the suspect broke into a home on New McEver road, thinking the 69 year old woman who lived there was alone.
"When he did that, he was about to duct tape her, he had a roll of duct tape and was about to tape her up," says Acworth Police Major Wayne Dennard, "when her husband came in through the front door. The suspect fled at that point."

 | Man jumps from I-285 bridge in Cobb |
Cobb County police are trying to determine why a man jumped off an interstate bridge in Cobb County.
It happened early Monday at around 3 a.m.
Police said the driver was pulled over on I-285 when he bolted from his vehicle and jumped off the bridge near Akers Mill Road.
Officers estimated the man fell 34 feet. His name was withheld and he suffered two broken legs.

 | Mother, child struck by motorist |
A mother and her 4-year-old child were recovering at area hospitals after they were struck by a motorist Sunday night in Cobb County, authorities said.
Cobb police spokesman Dana Pierce said the child, taken by ambulance to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, was “alert and fine” late Sunday.
