 | Police: Mom Left Kids In Car To Shoplift |
Marietta police said they arrested a mother who allegedly left her young children in her unlocked car so she could shoplift inside a Wal-Mart.
Police said Lashaundra Chantee Cooper, 23, was initially detained by Wal-Mart security when she was attempting to leave the Marietta store without paying for $24.75 worth of clothing items for herself.

 | Motorcycle wreck critically injures passenger |
Police say an intoxicated motorcyclist struck a taxi in Marietta early Thursday and critically injured a passenger on the back of the motorcycle.
David Michael Saenz, 19, was driving his Yamaha motorcycle north on Powder Springs Street near South Marietta Parkway just after midnight when the crash occurred, Marietta Police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Murphy said.
Saenz ran a red light and struck the side of a taxi, witnesses told police.

 | Cops seek stalker in Marietta woman's attack |
Police are searching for a stalker who broke into a Marietta woman's home Tuesday.
The victim was able to fight off her attacker, who fled on foot, police say.
The suspect is wanted in several other stalking incidents at the same residence where Tuesday's assault occurred, said Marietta police spokesman Brian Honea.

 | Motorcyclist dies in crash on Delk Road |
Marietta police are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist Wednesday afternoon.
Steven L. Holder, 24, was driving eastbound on Delk Road around 2:45 p.m. when witnesses say he lost control of his bike and struck another vehicle.
Holder, whose address was not immediately available, was pronounced dead upon arrival at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

 | Baby girl left at Marietta hospital |
A newborn baby girl was abandoned early Tuesday morning at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Marietta police reported.
A member of the hospital staff found the baby about 4 a.m. in a wheelchair near the emergency room entrance. Police said the medical staff checked the baby, found her in good health and estimated her to be three hours old.
The baby is in the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services.

 | Device destroyed in car near Dobbins was propane tank |
The Marietta Police Department confirmed in an afternoon press conference that Rick Wireman Jr. was responsible for parking a car with a suspicious device in it outside of Dobbins Air Reserve base Wednesday. The device eventually was destroyed with a water cannon.
Wireman, 29, is in Northwest Regional Hospital in Rome, said police spokesman Mark Bishop. No details were given about why he is hospitalized or what his condition is.

 | Cobb Pkwy. closed as robot deals with item at Dobbins |
Cobb Parkway remained closed Wednesday evening as a robot kept a suspicious vehicle under surveillance at the Main Gate to Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta.
A vehicle found with a suspicious package prompted authorities to shut down Cobb (U.S. 41) in front of the base, snarling the afternoon rush hour in Cobb County. The road was still closed as of 7:30 p.m.
Marietta police created a perimeter on Cobb, not allowing any traffic within 5,000 feet of the base. A wheeled, military robot was dispatched to roll up to the car and look inside.

 | Police seek help finding invasion suspects |
Marietta police Wednesday released a photo of one of two suspects in a Feb. 19 home invasion.
Two men forced the victim into his apartment at the Concepts 21 complex on Bentley Road and tied him up, Marietta police spokesman Mark Bishop said.
The suspects then ransacked the apartment before taking the victim’s vehicle and ATM card.

 | Runaway from Florida found in Marietta |
Marietta police found a 13-year-old runaway from Florida safe and unharmed Monday, and her 19-year-old boyfriend was arrested on four felony charges, Officer Mark Bishop said.
Erin Harrell, who fled a Pensacola group home during the weekend, was found at Autumn View Apartments in Marietta.

 | Pawn employee shot during robbery attempt |
A pawn shop employee was shot during an attempted robbery at Big Chicken Pawn on Cobb Parkway just after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The employee was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. His injuries were not life threatening, said Marietta Police Department spokesman Brian Honea.
Honea did not know what if anything had been taken from the pawn shop, located next to one of Cobb’s most famous landmarks, the Big Chicken KFC restaurant at the corner of Cobb Parkway and Roswell Road.
